Brown Bags for Instructors

Student Response Systems in the Humanities and Social Sciences
Wednesday, November 2, 2011:  12:00-1:00pm

HSSB 6020 (McCune Conference Room)

Our first brown-bag pedagogy discussion of 2010/11 will explore the potential for Student Response Systems, or “clickers,” to foster interaction and discussion in large Social Science and Humanities courses. Clickers have been widely adopted in the Sciences, and are gaining traction across the rest of campus.

A panel of UCSB faculty members from the Social Sciences and Humanities will share their approaches for using clickers to engage students.
The panel discussion will be followed by a group exploration of the challenges and potential benefits of using the student response system technology.

Please bring your lunch and your questions to find out what all of the buzz around clickers is about!

    Panelists —

Dr. Leila Rupp (Feminist Studies)
Dr. Jon Sonstelie (Economics)
Matthew Whittle (Anthropology)

Clickers and coffee will be provided.

Don’t forget to bring your lunch.

If you have questions, please contact Lisa Berry: lisa@id.ucsb.edu

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Ruth Marquette: ruth@id.ucsb.edu
