Instructional Development cordially invites you to attend the:
Faculty Dinner Forum: Leveraging New Tools to Promote Active Learning and Effective Feedback
The UCSB Faculty Club
Monday May 16, 2011, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Please take this opportunity to share your experiences in leveraging new tools or approaches to promote active learning and effective feedback for your students with your colleagues. Four experienced faculty have volunteered to provide an overview of their teaching approaches, and to facilitate interactive, small group breakout discussions. Topics will reflect the interests of the participants, and will focus on tools for active learning and tools for effective feedback.
There are many ways to teach effectively. Find out what works for your colleagues (and what doesn't), and share your perspectives.
Break-out sessions will provide colleagues an opportunity to explore the approaches presented by the panel in greater detail, and to brainstorm about how you might implement the techniques in your class. Finally, we will re-convene over dessert and summarize the “lessons learned” from the breakout discussions.
We expect this occasion to be a gathering of faculty who enjoy sharing and discussing instructional strategies and ideas.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact: George Michaels (x2378, george@id.ucsb.edu) or Kim McShane (x2828, kim@id.ucsb.edu). Additional information at: <http://oic.id.ucsb.edu/faculty-forums>
