Campus Learning Assistance Services
"UCSB Campus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS) offers a wide range of tutorial and academic skills programs designed to assist students in attaining mastery of their university course material. CLAS has a strong student-centered orientation. Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity
"The Resource Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity at UCSB is designed to be a safe and supportive environment for all students, staff, and faculty, emphasizing resources for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community, as well as allies and those who are questioning their sexual and/or gender identity. The Center welcomes a diversity of racial, ethic, religious, political and cultural values while advocating for the welfare of those who have historical been marginalized because of their sexual and/or gender identity. The Director and staff are committed to serving the campus and larger community with professionalism and respect. The Center provides educational programming, social activities, advocacy and consultation with the goal of enhancing safety, tolerance and quality of life in the UCSB community." Counseling and Career Services
"Our counseling services include crisis intervention, short term individual counseling and group counseling, as well as a range of self-help resources for personal development. We also offer consultation and outreach to classes, clubs, departments and residence units in an effort to make the campus in general a better setting for student learning and development." Provide sign language interpreters, readers, notetakers, registration assistance, facilitation of access to all programs, special adaptive equipment, arrangements for specialized educational materials, test-taking accommodations, assistance in locating attendant care, and supplemental orientation . . . The Multicultural Center exists to "resist and confront [the] persistent forms of group oppression. In addition to [providing] a safe place for students of color, international students, and gay, lesbian, and bisexual students, the MCC serves as a bridge to the entire campus community. To that end, the MCC offers a broad spectrum of events, including lectures, panel discussions, films and videos, dance, and dramatic perfomances, and poetry readings, which are all open to the general public." Office of International Students and Scholars
"The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) serves the needs of international students and scholars as well as the UCSB community who work with this international population. OISS provides administrative assistance, counseling, advising, and programming to the campus community. "The Women's Center is a place where people work to understand the changing roles of women and men and to expand the educational, professional, and personal opportunities for women. The Center challenges sexism, racism, heterosexism, and classism and other barriers that inhibit women's inclusion and equal power. The Women's Center provides a climate in which women can celebrate and cultivate their common strengths as well as recognize their rich cultural and individual differences."
